Its almost two completely different worlds and mind sets, This was shown more over the 10k sp per day issue, reddit showed overwhelmhing support for it and even dissed the bitter vets, meanwhile all i see is anger and frustration towards the idea. Pretty crazy eh? |

Hawke Frost wrote:The people who post about EVE on Reddit tend to be people who don't care for EVE's own personality and uniqueness, if they did they'd refused to post on Reddit about it and stick to the official forum, this one. It's therefore not surprising at all that those don't really see any problems when EVE turns more and more into a generic MMO (which weirdly no one plays much because they "suck", so why change this one too?).
The fact that CCP Devs seem to prefer posting on Reddit makes it all the more poignant, and telling.
I'd strongly disagree with you on the fact that we dont care about the uniqueness of eve. Theres been a good few times ive seen people claim to be the majority ie against sp injectors and now sp dailies, Reddit supports it and the eve forums stands against it.
On a side note i would reckon ccp goes there, because there are more people on there actively engaging. |

A lot of the people who fear censorship on Reddit, or specifically r/eve there's a tab right beside the default "hot" tab at the top of the page that takes you directly to the downvoted stuff, and it's easy to change the display to chronological order just like an ordinary forum |

I would really like to see evidence that the majority or a large portion of r eve don't play eve? And now your starting to get ridiculous regarding that job remark.
Also this place being a whine zone is hardly due to the trolls of the forum, it's simply that people here are generally high sec Care Bears who come here after someone spanked them, their crap is punished in r eve, here it's encouraged. What sounds more like an accomplished group of adults, a forum which supports mindless complaints or moronic ones? Or a forum that actually sticks to what happens in game and Discusses it? Ironically goonswarm posts are often upvoted even though test should apparently "censor" it. And I already showed you can have it in a regular forum view, your points are moot. |

Seriously, look at the 1st page of R/eve. There are either funny (well, sometimes funny) propaganda or interesting things/videos from in game including kill/battle reports and generally just people talking 'mess' to each other and having a good time. And as of this moment I can't find ONE topic on that front page that is a whine about how mean people are in high sec. In fact very few of the current r/eve topics look like any kind of complaining about the game.
HERE on the other hand, the front page of general discussion is a neurotic whine zone. 1 post complaining about opportunities, another complaining about getting ganked in high sec, several complaining about citadels (ALL of which are from a high sec point of view), complaints about sensor overlays and even a semi-necro'd jump animation complaint thread.
Someone in this very thread already said that wast majority of redditors do not care about this game. You just proved it. If we don't speak about such complex things for me reddit is just another place to look when i'm away from forums. And you rightfully wrote 'sometimes funny' because for me it looks like 99% of posts get upvotes just because it is grrrgoons (FOTM). Yes, there are interesting posts (like battle reports) but i would not choose r/eve over these forums. This isn't evidence that suggests people in r eve don't care, actually lets think for a moment, eve is a game? Right? These people are clearly enjoying the game. Why would they not care about it? |

This thread went from seeing a big difference in ideals of eve forums and r eve to someone comparing r eve to trump supporters, who don't have good jobs or likely do not, to all manner of generalisation of tens of thousands of people on there to a debate regarding societal views. |

A discussion wouldn't really lead to anything. Potentially, though I think if you were to be honest with yourself you are aware of many generalisations around people's employment. I mean who do you think is more likely to be physically stronger, a bricklayer or a banker? Maekchu wrote:But personally, I would consider a person who looks down on someone purely based on their job as "immature". I found your initial comment ironic, which is why I responded to it, given you being in favor of the eve forums being much more mature than reddit. So would I, but seeing that I'm a reddit poster, and that I'm not looking down on the job, simply making an observation about a type of person. An observation made quite commonly I might add. Maekchu wrote:In the end, my opinion on eve forums vs r/eve is that it honestly is a pointless comparison. Both mediums have their share of bad posts and brilliant posts. Use what you find comfortable to use yourself. I also support CCP gathering information/player feedback from more than only the official forums. Having more diverse feedback gives them a more nuanced picture of their game and provides more data for them to work with. There we will have to disagree. r/eve is biased in favour of the groups that run it. If CCP were to start posting info first onto something awful forums, people would explode with rage about how CCP are working with goons. Working with TEST is apparently fine. We are a minority group on r eve |

My cause? I made the point of both reddit and eve o being very different, ive only responded to certain ridiculous comments about reddit on here. You can have ***** fest or fun fest, cant have both im afraid. Unless you like trolling so i dont really have a "cause" |

Wasn't the forums were people spouted nothing but propaganda? Particularly when Bob was the dog pile target? |
